Returning to the University of St. Francis this fall is Aoife Scott, an award-winning folk singer and songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland. Born into the legendary Black Family, Aoife, is an established artist in her own right, and at the very pinnacle of Ireland’s traditional and folk music scene. Aoife is joined by her longtime collaborator Andy Meaney for this night of music from the Emerald Isle.

The Joliet Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 2024-2025 Season begins on Saturday, September 28 & Sunday, September 29 with 鈥淧recision鈥 featuring Lyon, France-based pianist Haley Morgan Myles performing Ludwig van Beethoven鈥檚 magnificent Piano Concerto No. 3 in c minor. 狈补蝉丑惫颈濒濒别鈥檚 Katie Pederson, an award-winning songwriter and performer from Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a winner of the International Songwriting Competition and a 2024 finalist in the Independent Music Awards. She joins Genevi猫ve Racette, a highly acclaimed folk-pop musician from Montreal, Qu茅bec, who has captured the hearts of listeners with her gentle yet compelling emotional resonance, and Abbie Thomas, an award-winning singer-songwriter from Goshen, Indiana.

Jean Sibelius鈥 ever-popular Finlandia, Sir Edward Elgar鈥檚 striking Serenade for Strings, Maurice Ravel鈥檚 melancholic Pavane pour une infante defunte, and Alexander Borodin鈥檚 panoramic In the Steppes of Central Asia will guide us to our final piece: Modest Mussorgsky鈥檚 tour de force Pictures at an Exhibition. Andrew will join the JSO in a performance of Max Bruch’s gorgeous Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor. We will warmly embrace the concerto with Ludwig van Beethoven鈥檚 Namensfeier Overture 鈥 which has a University of St. Francis connection 鈥 and George Whitefield Chadwick鈥檚 beautiful, but too infrequently performed, Symphony No. 2 in B-flat Major. Our season finale 鈥淟a Cr猫me de la Cr猫me鈥 on Saturday, April 26 & Sunday, April 27 features an all-French program with local cellist Marianne Roszyk as our soloist. Marianne will join the JSO in a performance of Camille Saint-Saens鈥 virtuosic Cello Concerto No. 1 in a minor. Bookending the concerto will be Gabriel Faure鈥檚 exquisite Suite from Pelleas et Melisande and Cesar Franck鈥檚 dramatic Symphony in d minor. What an incredible conclusion to a spectacular season of soloists and music! French horn soloist Emily Whittaker and the JSO explored music that revitalizes us in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart鈥檚 challenging 鈥淐oncerto No. 3 in E-flat Major.鈥 Also on the program was the stirring 鈥淔roissart Overture鈥 by Sir Edward Elgar and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F Major, opus 68 “Pastoral.” This program delighted and surprised as the JSO and audiences journeyed together through some familiar and unfamiliar musical landscapes

樱桃影视 was thrilled to welcome Aoife Scott and Andy Meaney, multiple award-winning musicians from Dublin, for the first Music at Moser show in the 2023 樱桃影视-24 school year. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Aoife Scott brought soulful vocals and evocative storytelling to the University of St. Francis. Her music, exploring themes of love and resilience, has captured the hearts of audiences around the world, offering a unique blend of folk, traditional and contemporary styles. Scott’s recognitions include Celtic Female Vocalist of the Year and Female Vocal Album of the Year (2021) and Irish Folk Song of the Year (2017). Scott and Meaney were joined by local musicians who opened the show, then joined on stage for the encore.
